I’ve read that to enhance fat loss you should eat 6 small meals a day. My work schedule doesn't make that possible. Can I still lose weight?

Answer: Yes, you will succeed at weight loss no matter when you consume your food as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn, even if you only eat 2 or 3 meals a day. However, one of the benefits of eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day is that you meet your body’s energy needs at regular intervals. There are studies that indicate that subjects eating a greater number of small, nutritious meals throughout the day improved weight loss compared to a traditional three meal approach, but all subjects did lose weight. That said, if you maintain your desired calorie deficit it won’t matter when you consume your calories.

In addition to helping you maintain energy levels, eating small meals more frequently can help control hunger and cravings, making it easier for you to stick to your calorie guidelines. It may not be realistic to eat 5-6 meals a day, and for some just getting in three can be a challenge. The goal is to discover what eating strategy works best for you and your lifestyle.
